About Nathan

Certified Performance Coach and Self Development Expert

I love my family and my friends, however I find it difficult to talk to them about things that stress me out, or even big goals I want to accomplish as I believe that I'll be judged, critiqued and leave the conversation feeling unheard.

From a young age, I've always been expected to get good results and become a success, growing up with two work driven parents. My role models including my Dad, have always been stereotypical alpha men, so I grew up with the belief to “man up” when things get difficult and have never been open with my emotions.

On the upside, this mindset has led me to accomplish an upper class degree in Psychology, become a high performer in my job roles, consistently train in the gym for 10+ years, get scouted and appear on multiple TV/dating shows and run my own business. However, it's also led me to constantly strive for success, without any knowledge of how to get it. I've turned to nights out and alcohol when I’ve been in difficult situations, instead of open up, which only works for a few hours before the come down the next day. I tell you all of this to say that in the 21st century a lot of men are struggling to open up and this can lead to fatal circumstances.

Societal pressure and lack of communication are the largest contributing factors as to why suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45. Men are three times as likely than women to become alcoholics, homeless and commit suicide, yet only 35% of people that reach out for therapy are men.

Do men in general have a problem which requires therapeutic assistance? No, however when dealing with pressure alone this can lead to self-sabotage behaviours which takes us away from performing at our best and in the long term resolves nothing.

I have been there and the best thing I did was acknowledge my issues before they became a problem.

That’s what motivated me to become an accredited performance coach, in order to support men like me who want more out of life, overcome current issues affecting them, identify what’s truly important to them and develop a step by step plan to perform at their best and live the lifestyle they want to live.
